Why it matters

Wheel nuts can work loose over time, especially after a stretch of corrugated roads. Build it into your routine before you head out, or straight after rough roads.

Get the torque right

The best way to tighten your wheel nuts is with a torque wrench, set to the correct figure for your caravan (check your manual or user guide). Get a firm grip, tighten until it clicks, and that's your correct torque.

Work in a star pattern

Don't go around the wheel in a circle — tighten in a cross-section, star fashion, across the wheel. That's what gives you even tension across every nut instead of pulling things unevenly against the hub.
